I’m a
fanatics Potterhead. Obsessed. Addicted. Have read Harry Potter books at least 15 times
each book. When I came across a trivia or something like “15 things you don’t
know about Harry Potter” and I was like “Oh really? Try me b*tch”. Never get
enough of this children books ever since I was a kid and now I have kids (sort
of). But here’s the biggest challenge of becoming a Potterhead in Indonesia, we
don’t have Primark or Universal Studio to buy official merchandises. Even if
there’s a way to get one from them, the price would be killing our asses when
it sold in Indonesia. So I usually buy merch from local artisan or make one
myself. Here are some of my Harry Potter inspired DIYs I’ve made, but sorry I
can’t attach the tutorials, I made it long time ago.
Hogwarts Owls

Owls from each Hogwarts houses
|
My favorite creation, I made them from air
dry clay (I use DAS Clay, easiest one to get in here) and then painted them
using acrylic paint. The Gryffindor owl is my first attempt to make figure using
clay, not bad I guess.
Pygmy Puff

Daisy, my lavender pygmy puff

It’s not even close to Pygmy Puff they sell in
Universal Studios, I use my imagination a lil bit and add a ribbon to make it
looks cuter. I made it from a fur ball, and the head is from felt.
Baby Mandrake

A baby mandrake in a pot, also
called Mandragora
|
Not my intention to make it looks so
startled, I’m suck at sculpting that’s why. It’s from DAS air dry clay and some
artificial leaves.
Pickett the Bowtruckle

This one is too dark-colored. I made it from
bendable wire and then covered it with a hot glue. When it dry, I wrapped it up
with branch-colored masking tape, add some leaves and faces then tadaaa…. a too-sunburn
Pickett.
Mimbulus Mimbletonia

It’s size about 17cm
|
This is the easiest one. Using DAS air dry
clay, I made it as close as the one they have in Universal Studios. But this is
the mini version, and a cheap one.
Potion Vials
Potion is my favorite subject at Hogwarts, of
course I need to have some potion vials as my collection. They made from resin
I put in a mini glass cork bottle, add some glitter and coloring in some of
them, and artificial plant to make the Gillyweed. I made the label design myself
and printed them on a paper craft.
