Little Tinker : a Hobby Gets Paid

I have a small local online business named Little Tinker Store. It sells handmade trinkets like necklaces, bracelets, key chains, bag charms, glasses strap, and many more. I started it in October 2015, been more than 3 years until now. It turns up pretty good for what I started as a hobby. I specially make trinkets in a vintage design, I love vintage and rustic, looks so chic and elegant.

I have no idea if my small business would be sustained this long. I mean, some people don’t give much of appreciation in handmade stuff. But I’m glad that people here love what I do and support me by buying my creations. It’s really fun and give me much of enjoyment in making those beautiful things. Never feel it as a job, it’s a hobby gets paid.

Every business has an up and down, so did mine. It’s not always those smooth, my business. At first, I only got about 4 to 6 orders per month. But I never give up, I love what I do and continue to do it. I keep practicing and make innovations, experimenting with new models, doing a research, and marketing my products.

But I also a bit sad when I found out that some people trying to copy my product and sell it in a much lower price than mine. I mean, 90% similarity is not taking an inspiration, it’s a copying. But it’s not taking so long for those kind of person to get out of business. They only wait for other people to create something and try to copy them. They don’t have enough confidence in creating one of their own. Of course it’s different with someone who works with passion and compassion because the result never betrays the effort.
